After more than six months of operation with the OOWV on Langeoog, the pilot plant has now moved to Nienburg. At the District Association for Water Management in Nienburg, selective ion exchange membranes will now be used to remove nitrate from the groundwater without having to carry out full demineralisation.

The selectivity for nitrate has already been confirmed in laboratory tests. Now the practical tests must show whether the mMCDI can also stably remove nitrate from the groundwater under real conditions.

And how much would that cost? ... Is it even sustainable? The Chair of Process Engineering in Hydro Systems and the Chair of Business Administration, esp. Sustainability Management and Environmental Accounting, are analyzing the data from the pilot phase. Stay up to date and take part in the hybrid event on 5/6 September 2024. Here you can find out more about the results of the BMBF-funded joint project innovatION.
